BJN Clinical Practice Awards 2009

The British Journal of Nursing is proud to announce the BJN Clinical Practice Awards 2009.

The BJN Awards 2009 will highlight and reward excellence in evidence-based nursing across a range of disciplines, recognising the importance of clinical nursing and patient care throughout the United Kingdom.

A panel of eminent judges chaired by Sir George Castledine, Consultant Editor of the British Journal of Nursing, will adjudicate.

Entries are invited from individuals or members of a team in the following major categories:

Stoma Care Award, sponsored by:

Coloplast

This award category recognizes excellence in stoma care, a highly challenging and important nursing discipline that supports patients with, or about to undergo, stoma forming surgery.

Wound Care Award

This award recognizes the clinical and nursing management of wound care, highlighting innovative, evidence-based work practices and the improvement in the care of patients.

Continence Nursing Award

Continence nursing covers many disciplines with many patient groups. This award acknowledges innovation and dedication in bettering the quality of life of patients affected by continence issues.

Nutrition Award

The nutrition award recognises excellence and commitment to improving the lives of patients through the provision of supportive nutritional care.

Mental Health Nursing Award

This award recognises excellence in mental health nursing. Mental health problems affect a huge number of people, and nurses are at the forefront of care for this often silent patient group. This award is an opportunity to highlight their exceptional work.

Infection Prevention Award

This award recognizes outstanding achievements made in avoiding and controlling infections as well as rewarding efforts in educating patients and their carers about the spread of diseases.

Multiple Sclerosis Nursing Award

This award recognises innovation and dedication in caring for patients undergoing treatment and care with this disease area.

Cancer Nursing Award

Cancer nurses touch the lives of one in four people in the UK. This award recognises the major part cancer nursing plays in the health of the population and the range of innovative work that characterises cancer care.

Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by:

A highly prestigious award to honour an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to nursing.
