Education is key in urology

Abstract
I am honoured to be writing my inaugural editorial for BJN's Urology Supplement. As I pen this editorial, we find ourselves just 5 months into 2025, yet we are already witnessing significant milestones in the field of urology.
I had the pleasure of attending the 30th anniversary celebrations of The Urology Foundation (TUF) recently. This event offered attendees a wonderful opportunity to commend TUF for its outstanding contributions to funding vital research and education, which have greatly advanced treatment options and improved care in urological medicine.

Another significant event this year is the 25th anniversary of the European Association of Urology Nurses (EAUN). I was fortunate to attend their conference in Madrid, where they presented an excellent programme for more than 300 nurses. During my time at EAUN, the BJN Awards 2025 were also taking place. Adele Brodie and Hannah Doyle, representing the British Association of Urology Nurses (BAUN), along with Polly Weston and Angie Rantell from the Association for Continence Professionals (ACP), had the honour of attending and presenting the Continence and Urology Nurse of the Year Award to Leann McLaughlin, Uro-Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist at Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
